Hello everyone. My Name is Sona Segnou and i am a senior at Georgia State University for an undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with concentration in Biomedical Sciences. I aspire to be a clinical researcher one day to help develop prescription medicine!
I was born in Bamenda Cameroon and the sixth and last child of my parents. Through the lottery system we were able to leave and come to America. We settled first in middle Georgia before moving to Atlanta. I would study and graduate from Morrow High School before attending Georgia State University.
How I Came To Love Science
From a young age, my curiosity about the world was boundless! I always found myself brimming with questions about how living things worked and the incredible functions of our bodies. I would lose track of time exploring the great outdoors, marveling at insects, gathering vibrant leaves, and diving into captivating documentaries about the human body. My excitement skyrocketed the moment I discovered how cells operate and the impact diseases have on us. I was captivated by the idea that medicines could heal and that doctors harness the power of science to save lives. Watching my loved ones depend on medical treatments opened my eyes to the critical role research plays in enhancing health and curing illnesses. This spark of curiosity grew into a profound love for biology, igniting my passion for unraveling the fascinating mechanisms that keep us alive and thriving.
As I journeyed through my education, my interest in medical science flourished, particularly in the realm of clinical research.
